The drinks were also blah. JAL focuses more on their Business Class and First Class Passengers. Even their luggage comes in first."

Makes me sad that other airlines (I won't name them) can still be in business... they need to fly JL9 once and hope they understand."

Nadelen: "Boarding was actually good. It was checking your luggages in and getting your boarding passes which was POOR. Passengers on International flights going out of the Philippines are advised be at the airport at least 3 hours before scheduled flight. Well, the JAL check-in counter opened at 650AM for the 950AM flight (exactly 3 hours before the scheduled flight), with maybe some 50 people already in line. With most passengers coming far from the airport, it will be very very helpful if the counter, even at least one counter, would open earlier, so that passengers who came in early could check in early and wait comfortably in the departure area."
Voordelen: "Cabin attendants were nice. I got sore throat so I asked some items, like water or candies. Then they served me them nicely."

They don’t give you your connecting boarding pass when you leave the country. You have to go through China’s bullshit customs service three times just to get to your next flight. Chinese customs is like a bowl full of retarted fish smelling their own farts. Six people doing nothing while one blithering idiot Stubles through paperwork."
Voordelen: "The Chinese people were wonderful! But I was required to pass thru security checks 3 times arriving. 3 times transiting and 3 times leaving. At customs, transit and departure. No common sense to their process only"letter of the law". For example I was taking beef jerky to my friends in Thailand but the Chinese security has a meat sniffing dog and they confiscated it as well as the girl in front of me More than $100 worth of jerky. They should have given it back at departure gate. I had to buy more in their duty free shop. Also they cancelled my flight without advising me but did get me on Thai airways later that day. Too much hassle to Transit China"
Voordelen: "787 Dreamliner layout is efficient, generous legroom and recline is better than American carriers. Crew works as team, fast and courteous. Very helpful and professional, Water offered frequently, trash pick up kept cabin neat, bathrooms always clean. Passenger announcements are clear and crisp is English and Chinese."
Nadelen: "Really, no complaints. More entertainment choices would be appreciated however is not my priority."
Voordelen: "The flight is easy to check gave us 23kgs check in luggage 46kgs if u have intl flight. Free hotel with breakfast. Not bad at all."
Nadelen: "They require us to get the luggage and check in again tomorrow."
Voordelen: "Flew business class. Cabin crew was some of the most attentive I have experienced. Food was very good and nicely presented. Pillows could be better, but had two. Same with blankets. One thick and puffy, the other lighter. Nice for temperature regulation."
Nadelen: "First leg lax - Tao delayed almost 3 hours. Fortunately the 2nd leg was delayed 1.5 hours. 3rd leg on this itinerary was also delayed, I could have made the flight, but they gave my seat away. It was a bit of a Charlie Foxtrot rearranging flights and overnighting Hotel. 2.5 hours. A supervisor was needed to sort it all out. We will see if the above was bad circumstances or not. I run the same itinerary in reverse on the way home in a week."

I am told I have to get a transit visa in order to return home and for me and my son 350!! For 2 hours transit in an airport??? This is NOT a world class airlines, they make their own rules. I will buy another ticket!!"
Voordelen: "I was forced to buy a new ticket home, which made me discover how wonderful Japan Airlines is..."
Nadelen: "How are these people still in business? The only people answering customer service hotlines were from the main HQ who only spoke Chinese and would immediately transfer callers to a line for “forgeiners” which would just ring awhile and then disconnect. Same thing happened for at least 10 different people stranded by cancelled flights, even had people trying to call for me from the US. A travel agency was able to switch my friends flights, only to be blocked at his gate by an uninformed Xiamen agent saying he needed a visa for his layover in China, ultimately forcing him to buy a whole new ticket. Xiamen never answered, reimbursed, or recitified any of this. On the flight there, flight attendants had attitudes and SMOKED IN AIRPLANE, it STANK like an ashtray!!! And the food was the worst I ever encountered."

Nadelen: "Boarding because we have to take bus at Xiamen airport.Also, security checks at Xiamen are very complicated."

Voordelen: "787 Dreamliner's hardscape was new and clean. IFE was decent but had some anomalies (can't take off of pause unless you shut off screen, select same movie and resume). Food was fairly decent and plentiful. Think a cheap chinese diner & you've got it."
Nadelen: "Crew was efficient but can't speak Englsh worth a nickel! While I have a limited ability in Mandarin (think 5yo vocab), the announcements in Engrish was almost as bad as some of the translations in many Chinese products. I pity the people who can't understand ANY Chinese: they could not possibly get most of the announcements. They should really get at least 1 FA that can speak and understand English. The signage in Xiamen (I was transiting from LAX to TPE) was amazingly poor and confusing. You basically stumble from 1 floor to another based on the signage. The airport was actually very large for what appears to be a medium size city."

Nadelen: "Since the airline is so small, they don't schedule agents for check-in prior to a couple hours before boarding. That was a bit frustrating when we wanted to be at the gate early."

Nadelen: "1) I asked for a window seat so I could see Hong Kong on the air. They put me in the row in front of the wing. No window! 2) Almost constant announcements about seatbelts and electronic devices, not loud enough to actually understand, but just loud enough be annoying. 3) Flight crew go down the aisle with the grace of drunken rugby players. On the return flight I sat on the aisle and got positively battered. I don't work for an airline but I can walk up and down the aisle without touching anyone! 4) The morning meal was a bottle of water, a bruised banana and a piece of bread with what smelled like dog food inside. Revolting. The meal on the way back was ... the same! Give me real food, a snack or nothing at all. It's only an hour flight. 5) On the return flight we sat at the gate for 40 minutes. No explanation or apology. 40 minutes late on a flight that was only an hour... 6) I had to ask for an arrival card as we descended. They could have been given out while we were sitting at the gate doing nothing for 40 minutes. 7) The only "entertainment" was about 15 minutes of commercials. My boss booked this flight for me. I will not fly with them again. They were so incompetent and overmatched, on a flight that was only an hour. I was embarrassed for them."
