Voordelen: "During my experience on 19 November I encountered only wonderful crew members, from the gate attendants to the on-flight crew. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind."
Nadelen: "Earlier in the day when I was checking in, there was a prompt to be added to the list of volunteers to take a different flight should one of my later flights (it did not specify, I flew from DAY to ATL, and then ATL to ORF) was overbooked. My schedule was accommodating enough that I selected yes. In ATL I was called up as a potential volunteer as they needed 3 volunteers to take a later flight that day. I was told that I was not initially assigned a seat since I had earlier agreed to be a potential volunteer. I was okay with all of this. We were told that the decision would be made at the end of boarding, and we would know if our seats were needed. At the end of boarding they called for the 3 volunteers to board. I was the last one to board and was given my seat assignment. Once I got on the plane I saw that someone had already been assigned my seat and let a flight attendant know what had happened. I stood on the plane for about 10 minutes while the flight attendants and other crew members tried to figure out what had happened. My name was not listed under any cabin (main, comfort, etc) even though I had a ticket and a seat assignment. Eventually they had to open the doors again for me to get off the plan as there were no available seats. Once I got back to the gate podium I was booked on a later flight, as would have been the case had the normal course of action for volunteering to give up my seat taken place. Everyone was extremely helpful in trying to figure out what had happened, but it was still frustrating that it had to happen in that way. Luckily I don't believe the delay caused any major delay for the flight. In the end, things worked out fine, it just seems as though this is an issue that didn't need to happen."

Nadelen: "No available SkyTeam lounge unless you had a business class ticket. As a Diamond flier, I can always access the SkyTeam lounges. Audio for boarding was a little unclear so there was some confusion at boarding. For reasons unknown, my bag was moved from one overhead bin to another. Very frustrating since I board early to avoid this confusion and hassle."

It was delayed in 30 min increments, which made it hard to do anything else around the airport since I was constantly in a state of "about to board." A frustrating experience. No posts of extra snacks while waiting, or compensation or explanation of what caused the delay."

Nadelen: "The management was horrible, if you already knew the pilot was working extensive hours you could have had another pilot on standby just in case... I'm sure it would have been a lot cheaper and less of an inconvenient for everyone on the flight..."
Nadelen: "Plane was supposed to depart at 9:09pm. An announcement was made that in Atlanta which is Delta hub, there were no flight attendants for the flight so we had to wait for another crew to fly in. That's just unporfessiknal. To make matters worse, the gate agents didn't make announcements even if just to say we know this isn't good and we will update you asap even if just to tell you we are still waiting on word. Total silence and seeing the gate agents laugh and talk amongst each other was pretty bad."

My poor rating was because the luggage handling was really poor. Lots of flights from Paris to Amsterdam (almost hourly), but my bag showed up 12 hours later. My wife's bag took 36 hours. And yes, we checked in together. There were lots of confusing messages"

Nadelen: "Information on KLM website and flight status said 50 minutes delay and was never updated with the true status. 3 hours before we took off. KLM blamed the fog at Manchester but to be honest most other flights seemed unaffected. Put up in an IBIS hotel and fed substandard food and shitty hotel room with an Aircon unit that clunks into action every 30 seconds keeping me awake. It's external so I can't switch it off. Being given a 10 Euro voucher for food at the airport when most food and a drink will cost you 12 to 15 euros."

The plane did get cleaned a little bit in Dar-es-salaam however I was still missing a pillow and blanket which I had to actively seek out. Seating was not very comfortable as there was a box attached to the leg of the seat in front of me, making it necessary to keep my feet at an uncomfortable angle through the long flight. I did not enjoy the food."

Voordelen: "Efficiency and speed of boarding was acceptable. I have no complaints about that aspect. The Comfort+ seats were worth the upgrade, pretty comfortable and reasonable legroom unless you have a big carry on stowed under the seat in front of you."
Nadelen: "The first announcement they made to all of us in the economy section was thay they did not have any headphones for anyone but business class. I was told when I booked the seat that the headphones would be complementary. So I did not bother to bring any assuming they were going to keep their word; I figure I'd make it work and watch a movie without sound. If that isn't bad enough midway through my nine hour flight my monitor went out and would not turn back on."

As a result we had to wait until all the passengers got off the plane to get back our luggage and we were the last two passengers to get off. Unpleasant!"

Nadelen: "Series of unfortunate events: 1. No air vents in seats. Plane was very warm the entire flight. My husband and I spent 6+ hours sweating in our seats. 2. Dinner was not served until 9:30/10PM. By the time we received our food in the back, it was cold. 3. For guests who wanted to sleep during the red eye, the lights were not turned off until after dinner and cleanup, which meant only 2 or so hours of sleep in dark."
Nadelen: "Due to a train mix-up, I arrived at the Frankfurt airport with only 53 minutes to get through security and board. Lufthansa would not let me through the process, even though I immediately told them about the problem. They not only refused to let me board, but also refused to reschedule me. I had to buy a whole new round-trip ticket at more than double the price in order to meet my family for our once-in-a-lifetime reuinion in Norway, but also make my existing connection for the return flight. It cost me an additional 999 Euros cash in the middle of my vacation because my Kayak ticket was not refundable."

Nadelen: "My 1st experience on SAS & everything was late: takeoff over an hour late, and upon arrival in CPH we were delayed again to exit the plane because they couldn't get the skyway door attached to the plane."

I was supposed to have 30 minutes after leaving security at Manchester and would have done if they hadn't decided to board early. That's ok but then we sat on the plane waiting which resulted in leaving later than the original time of departure and therefore a large run for my connection at Copenhagen. Was badly organized clearly."

Nadelen: "I was charged 500 DKK (about $80) to check a single suitcase. I was assuming an allowance of one bag on an international flight - I guess I should have read the fine print. What was most annoying though is the fact that the bag didn't even make it to destination (on a direct flight, this is hard to accept)."

Nadelen: "During online check in and through the website, I was informed that I would be able to have one free checked bag. I was never prompted that I would have to pay additional. However, when I arrived at the airport, I was told that I had to pay an additional $75 to check my bag in even though my boarding pass stated I was able to check in one bag. I was then pushed back and forth through the airport to complete this process. I would have liked to be given warning if I had to pay any additional costs."

SK agent at lax seemed unsure, Arlanda customer service agents at baggage in Arlanda also seemed unsure. We then learned from another airport worker at baggage they would go all the way through. It is very important to know since turn around time is very short, and I almost missed flight 8 years ago, and bags did miss it last time. Tks"

Nadelen: "My wife requested a vegan menu as she has allergic to chicken and egg, and it was accepted a week before the flight. But a normal food was served to her, so we said to the crew to change the meal. She, the crew, said "we don't know the request, we don't have more vegan meal." She didn't apologize about that, additionally she requested to show a confirmation number with an arrogant attitude. Anyway we asked to bring a vegetarian meal, she brought it, and we asked her if it contains egg (sometimes seasoning contains egg). She said she would check and come back soon, but she never appeared. What a rude crew she was. What an unsophisticated system the flight company has. We were so disappointed."
Voordelen: "The plane was brand new with comfortable seats that had adjustable headrests. This made sleeping very easy. I was impressed with the food and the flight attendants were great."
Nadelen: "The seating area was cramped making it difficult to move around, do work or view the screen.I know this is typical of coach class but I still don't like it. The selection of movies was adequate but smaller than I'm used to. There wasn't much in the way of music to choose from. Only one choice for jazz and classical."
Voordelen: "The food was excellent on this flight. Flights were on time."
Nadelen: "Entertainment was hard to hear with the ear buds provided. Wait time in security at Chicago was terrible. It took nearly an hour to get through security."

Nadelen: "Check in Process in Milan Malpensa was chaotic at best! Did not have a good back up plan in place when the plane coming to Malpensa did not come due to maintenance."

Nadelen: "Not much legroom for an 11-hour flight. SAS provides 2 meals during the flight, which is similar to other airlines, however, drinks are only provided with the meals. If you want a drink at a different time, you have to pay for it. I find that quite unacceptable for a flight of this duration. The checkin agents (not employees of SAS) took quite a while to help me - almost half an hour, which prevented me from spending some time outside the airport."

Finally, the temperature was freezing & the bathrooms were disgusting."

One flight attendant rolled her eyes when asked for something, another snacked her lips. They really don't seem like they like their jobs or their customers. If that's the case, move on."

Nadelen: "Iberia's flight was late in arriving at the gate in Madrid, and our flight was delayed by 45 minutes (for a one hour flight!). When I arrived at my destination, all the local people (Lekeitio, Bizkaia, Spain) agreed that Iberia is a national disgrace- everyone has had bad experiences flying with them. We have purchased a little apartment in Lekeitio, so we will be traveling frequently, but I will never fly Iberia again."

Nadelen: "TV wasn't working at all which made for a very long flight! Food selection ran out. I felt like the plane was old and outdated."

Nadelen: "Coût des bagages 25$ par valise pas indiqué lors de notre réservation de vol via Kayak. On parle alors d'une augmentation de 50$ du coût du billet. Pas assez de personnel à bord. Assis à l'arrière et le premier breuvage nous a été offert que 2,5 h après le décollage!!!! Pourtant le personnel n'a pas arrêté de faire tout ce qu'il pouvait mais en nombre suffisant pour répondre adéquatement à la clientèle. Les sièges semblent avoir diminué en dimension et on ne se sent pas à l'aise lorsque que l'on mesure 6pi et plus et pèse 200 et plus sans pour autant être obèse."

Voordelen: "Autant j'apprécie quand les agents de bord tente de dire quelques mots en français même s'ils ne sont pas totalement bilingue, un essai est toujours mieux qu'un refus. J'ai vu un client qui parlait en français et l'agente dans ce cas ci s'efforçait de lui répondre et parlé en français. Il s'agissait d'un vol de Québec à Montréal, il ne s'agissait pas d'un vol St-John's à Halifax. Autrement le service est bien et les agentes sont gentilles. Air Canada doit mieux faire à ce niveau."

Nadelen: "1. Food very substandard. Hot food not very well prepared and rather tasteless, and snack was like a cardboard wrap with some salsa sauce in it. A disgrace to a major airline like Air Canada. Selection of drinks very limited. 2, Staff persisted in speaking mostly French, on an international flight. Some announcements were made only in French. As a Canadian, I can follow French, but let us remember that English is the international language. To use French is not fair to other nationalities, who expect English. 3. Seats far too close together for a long flight. There was more legroom on the Jazz flight from Montreal to Ottawa! 4. Entertainment kept breaking down. Headphones for my wife did not work, and eventually both of our screens went dead. Her's quit right in the middle of a movie. Bad!! 5. Boarding passes had zones on them, but these were totally disregarded in boarding. This resulted on overcrowding, long waits, etc. Hard on older people!"

The Rouge Player had no current movies or TV and the food portions were very small for a 9 hour flight."

Nadelen: "1. L'avion de retour de Genève était beaucoup plus bruyante (Airbus x) que celle à l'aller vers Paris (Boieng 747). 2. L'espace dans cet avion est beaucoup trop restreint pour des vols long courrier. 3. L'achanlandage élevé à l'aréoport de Montréal a du faire poiroter l'avion au moins 30 minutes de plus au-dessus de l'aréoportt. 4. La foule à l'aréoport était si dense qu'il fut long avant que je ne sois dédouané. 5. Conséquences: a) j'ai raté la correspondance pour Ottawa; b) On m'a suggéré de prendre le prochain vol qui était déjà plein (très fort comme calcul) ou de prendre l'autobus... ou t'attendre le vol de 20h30... c) j'ai arpenté les corridors infinis de l'aréoport Trudeau pour tout à fait rien. 6. Ma fille est venue me chercher de Gatineau pour m'y ramener"
Nadelen: "4h de retard, on nous dit qu'aucune "voucher" d'hotel puisque le retard est dû est la température à chicago (d'ou provient l'avion) alors quil fait beau la bas et un cile sans nuage.....de plus, l'agente au comptoir qui s'occupe de nous imformer refuse de nous aider et distribue plutot des depliants avec on # de telephone pour que les gens appellent par eux meme....tres decue d'air canada et de son manque de communication ainsi que de la facon de transmettre l'informtion! De plus, tout etait fermé a YUL alors meme pas possible d avoir un café! 3 h + tard nous avons eu breuvages chauds et biscuits expirés..."

Nadelen: "The boarding was a serious problem as there were no well defined waiting areas for over 400 people to board, blocking the way for other people to walk around the gates. The Toronto airport decided to board two flights to Frankfurt by two different airlines directly next to each other at about the same time, leading to lots of confusion. My frustration was increased by the fact that the airline managed to forget my luggage at transfer, while my travel companions was "just" delayed. during flight while the service was good, the quality of food was very low. The frustration was even further increased , the through the delay of the plane and the luggage problems our rental car reservation was expired as they only hold cars for 1 hour after scheduled reservation. The later not the fault of the airline, but i will certainly consider other airlines and rental car companies in my future Travel consideration unless the return trip experience changes my mind."
