I finally emailed vayamas/kayak to cancel and 5 days later received a reply that there was no cancellation refund. Apparently Kayak provides a no communication/no refund policy. My travel companion had the opposite experience with Expedia."

Nadelen: "at check-in agent said we did not have coverage on our ticket for our 2 -50lb bags dispite informing her that we were covered and had no problem on our arriving flight to Portugal - we had to pay 196 Euros or leave our bags in Portugal Additionally we had ordered a wheelchair to assist my wife to the gate - which we also had our arriving flight - agent said she had no record of it. She said we could wait which we did and waited 2 hours to obtain a wheelchair (and came close to missing our plane) not to mention the stress associated with the whole check in process"
Nadelen: "Flight#1 was late. I missed the connecting flight to Basel. I have to stay overnight in Brussels and fly VERY early to Basel in the morning."

Nadelen: "When TAP couldn’t get me to Lisbon in time to make my connection they added a flight to Madrid where I waited until 16:00 to fly to Seville. I talked to several TAP representatives and none were helpful or apologetic and they offered me nothing for the problems they caused. I missed my only day in Seville due to this. This trip turned out to be a disaster."

Nadelen: "The crew was not very welcoming and was borderline rude when I asked any sort of question such as why I was not allowed to wear my headphones prior to take off. I was patient in not wearing them, but could not relaxing into the trip for the 40+ minutes we remained on the ground mostly not moving. I was tired when boarding and fumbled with my documents and was very curtly told to just hand them over. Another time I accidentally mistook headphones the stewardess was handing out for something else. I took a pair and then immediately gave them back with an apology that I didn't realise what they were, but thanked her anyway. This was met with a scowl and a bit of opposition. There was one stewardess that was very nice and accommodating out of the entire crew. On top of this the toilet seat on the plane was broken, so it fell on you when you were trying to go to the bathroom, and the soap dispenser was broken. I didn't dare mention these things to the flight crew though. The plane was late taking off from Montreal, and so was late landing in Brussels. No effort was made to provide connections assistance, or provide directions on where to go to rebook our missed connections. I and all others traveling to Zurich spent the entire morning trying to find anyone from Air Canada to help us rebook our flights. We literally were going from desk to desk between two terminals, and consulting each other as we went to limit the amount of leg work we all had to do. We all had to finally leave the terminal area and go to Swissport and stand in a long slow line. By that time any afternoon flight was already overbooked. So I and a group of other passengers were booked for an evening flight which forced me to book a hotel in Zurich because I couldn't get to where I needed to be that evening. After being rebook, I still tried to get on an earlier flight by going directly to the gate. It was confirmed that there was some extra space available, but they would not switch me to the earlier flight because I had a checked bag that I could not separate me from. Ultimately my bag was lost which made me have to stay awake and in the Zurich airport even longer after I finally arrived going from one lost baggage representative to another, and then waiting in another line to finally fill out paperwork because my bag had never been scanned in Brussels. The Zurich representatives were very polite, helpful, and efficient compared to anyone I encountered in Montreal, or Brussels. I was without my bag for 3.5 days of what was supposed to be a 10 day trip. My trip was reduced to 9 days because I spent an entire day in the Brussels airport and then had to spend the night in Zurich. I arrived in Zurich on Saturday night, and received my bag on Tuesday afternoon. All in all it was not a good experience until I got to Switzerland."

Every time you asked an associate from Aur Canada for help, the passed the problem off not taking any responsibility. If your name is on my ticket, then it's your responsibility. Worst experience traveling by far. Also lost over a day of my expensive trip that I've been waiting to go on for awhile and saved my money for a year. I lost hundreds of dollars in events and hotels. Avoid Air Canada if possible"

Problem is, Air Canada gives us no choice but to fly "Rouge" to our destination. Once my flight pass is completed I am seriously thinking of moving moyalty to Westjet. I can't take Rouge discomfort any longer. Also - due to turbulence on the flight they decided to withhold food and beverage service without any announcements the entire flight. Nor did they distribute iPads. Far into the 3 hour flight they came with water. That's it. The insult to injury was that on preparation for landing they said their "canned" announcements that they were coming to collect iPads and any remaining items. Oh and did I mention we left 2 hours late? And the fact that the Premium passenger got meals and we had to smell them all flight long? Funny how that works. Very disappointed, Rouge."

Voordelen: "It was a very good flight. A pillow and blanket were provided which was good for comfort and to keep warm because it was very cold on the flight. The hot meals that were included were tasty and the the coffee was good. The bottles of water were a nice touch."

Nadelen: "we pre booked seats at #14 because our daughter cannot walk without help, we took her to and from the plane by wheelchair to make it easier, they bumped us to seat # 32 , the very last one, that is a long walk, at check in the woman there was rude when we told her of our situation and that we had seats, she said there was nothing she could do because the plane was full, she was not very helpful at all, and asked if we wanted to take another plane. Our whole family has been traveling with air Canada, but I think it's time for a change. Very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

One thing I can say for America, they do not mess around.....they fix problems....your team sucked leaving Toronto Barcelona two weeks ago and then you suck leaving Toronto to SFO. Please understand, folks have flight connections and the number one thing then need from you, instead of water is information on whether their flight will be waiting for them!!!"

Nadelen: "Got to airport in morning only to find out flight delayed 3.5 hours. No prior notification so instead of waiting in my comfortable home I got to wait at airport. Check in lady was a witch - sorry I made you do your job. Bounced my luggage for being 3 lbs over. Lame excuse of plane mechanical problems for delay. My girlfriend flew same flight 10 days earlier and had same thing happen. If Air Canada has that many mechanical issues I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy about them."

It wasn't just one narrow event: even after the delayed flight, and 6 hour phone call to get rebooked, we had to use international roaming charges at the Shanghai airport to call and get them to correct an error they made with our flight out of Shanghai. The flights themselves were alright, but I want to use every opportunity I have to complain about the booking and customer service process."
Nadelen: "10:30am flight delayed for three hours. They moved my flight to 7:30am and no one told me. Someone claims they did not have my email address. The thing is, I received at least three emails prior to the flight from AirCanada, one was my itinery. So whoever couldn't find my email address must be looking on another planet or something."

The first flight was late because of mechanical issues and then Air Canada was not at all forthcoming in getting us rebooked on the next flight. Something that should have been quite simple involved me having to fight with workers just to get put on a new flight -- nobody wanted to actually do the work."
