Nadelen: "First let me tell you that when I booked a flight to Istanbul from Brussels, I booked, so I thought, the airport called Istanbul Ataturk with the initials of IST. What I got was SAW after I paid for a booking that said IST. Sabina Gokcen is one hour away further on the Asian side of Turkey. I did not want this airport! There was nothing I could do about this but bite the bullet & accept what I got since I was not allowed to have any corrections made after paying for this ticket. I am highly disappointed with Kayak. The first time you have disappointed me greatly!"

The entire row behind me had 1 adult & 2 children. 2 Hours into the flight, there were 4 children, no adults and the seats were used as a playpen. 7 hours of kicking, punching the screen, opening the window shutter during "sleeping time" as instructed by the crew. Wine was poured on my back, water splashed on the person next to me, children were climbing over my head... etc. No parents or flight attendants could help the situation. Boarding was a mess. 10-15 passengers surrounding me sat anywhere they wanted creating a delay to push back because everyone just sat with their family and disregarded the chaos it created for those individual travelers wanting to sit in "THEIR PROPER SEAT". This was the worst / never ending flying experience I've ever had. I will never fly Turkish Airlines again."

The overhead luggage compartments fill up fast. *This is more of a cultural thing: but it is annoying that passengers routinely get up and start grabbing their bags before the aircraft has even retracted the speed brakes upon landing..."

Nadelen: "- Rude airport staff at Ataturk. - Completely disorganized staff and management - 9/10 times, the flights are VERY WARM inside... You have to negotiate to get them to lower the temp to 23 degree C or 73 F (basic comfort) - Turkish airline is overcome by the GREED of making big revenue numbers. While growth is good, their airport in Istanbul (Ataturk) falls ruefully short of expectations. Most flights arriving and leaving don't get a gate... people are are on buses all the time. - I found an elderly lady who asked me for help as she had lost her passport and been wandering for hours inside the terminal. For the next 2 hours, I went from desk to desk, office to office, police, Turkish staff, everyone... not one person was willing to help... not even the police. Finally I had to leave her in a massive immigration line where they told me they would find someone who spoke her language and find out what had happened. These guys will make the WORST third world country airport look good!"

Ensuite reacheminement en bus ou taxi pour les plus chanceux. Sans qu’on nous donne le moindre repas. Pourtant atterrissage prévu initialement vers 11h. La il est 14h10 passé et le ventre vide et toujours sur la route entre Lyon et Genève."

Voordelen: "In Toronto werd ik aangesproken door een dame van KLM met de vraag hoe ik reisde, alleen of in groepsverband etc. Zij gaf aan dat ik gebruik kon maken van de lounge en dat er hulp aanwezig was om bagage in te checken bij de self check-in. Uitermate vriendelijke en behulpzame dame. Tijdens de vlucht was er zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam cabinepersoneel beschikbaar."

Nadelen: "Our flight was canceled from Amsterdam to Bordeaux and did not receive any direction and had to find alternate flights for ourselves with the personal expense of using our own cell phones. Then our luggage lost for 3 days. Not happy!"

Nadelen: "Vegetarian food was poor. It was just boiled vegetables. Even the bread that was given to others was not there. They treated Vegetarian food as Vegan food (although it was specified as vegetarian), so there was no butter, no yogurt and nothing but boiled vegetables and fruit salad. Hard to sustain oneself with that on a 12 hour flight! I asked the flight attendant for yogurt who just ignored my request."

The plane was clean and presentable, especially the lavatories. The seats were comfortable and the blankets provided worked well too."
Nadelen: "Food was bland and the chicken dish was dry and difficult to chew. Movie selection on the entertainment system was mediocre, with limited variety of films in general and especially limited variety in languages other than English and Arabic. A problem which I encountered on board was a big gap between the ventilation panel at the base of the wall and the flooring, through which the dessert of my meal fell and which presented the risk of losing further items. I hope this is fixed promptly."

Nadelen: "There was a late gate change in Cairo, which was not communicated to the new gate personnel. They were not ready to receive, there was no female screener which required a delay for the ladies to enter the gate area, and the plane was late leaving. Not a crisis, but was entirely avoidable. Also, I suggest avoiding long layovers in the Cairo airport. There are few chairs outside the eating areas."

Voordelen: "The flight services were good but with two major horrible issues:"
Nadelen: "1. It took almost one week after my arrival to trace my checked-in baggage. Horrible indeed. Moreover, the baggage contained my medications and other valuables which I needed on ongoing basis! Very disappointing! 2. Despite being charged for the full fare as indicated online, Kenya Airways charged my debit card an additional fee of $31.19. I thought the amount that I had paid to KAYAK was final? I will NEVER dare use such a travel agent engine again in future!"

Voordelen: "Once I got on the flight things were fine, but the process of getting there was a nightmare."
Nadelen: "My Air India and Kenya Airways flights were packaged together as though they were a code share, but when my initial let on Air India from Delhi to Mumbai was delayed I missed my connection to Nairobi. What followed was a bizarre five-hour scramble in the Mumbai airport that ranks in the top three worst flight experiences I’ve ever had. I had already checked in and had a emailed boarding pass, but wasn’t let through security without the official airline printout. Although the Kenya Airways Nairobi flight was also delayed and was still several hours from boarding, their staff was nowhere to be found and none of their 10+ customer service numbers was working. I finally managed to get a hold of a representative over the phone via the airport’s information counter, and she swore that a staff member was on the way to meet me. Two hours and several calls and assurances later, the flight took off without me and the Kenya Airways staff stopped picking up the phone. Then there was a crazy several hours of back and forth as a single employee emerged and demanded that I get a letter from Air India taking responsibility for the initial delay, before disappearing again for several hours. The disorganization, unprofessionalism and outright lies I encountered were frankly bizarre and unlike anything I’ve encountered while flying before."

Voordelen: "This company obviously trains its employees to belittle and disregard customers. I have never dealt with a company so at fault for an issue and so utterly unwilling to make up for it. First, they cancel the first of our 3 flights to Delhi 18 hrs before it is to leave. The flight they replaced it with would leave us 10 min to make the connection. So we went to the counter and they told us they'd hold the plane, as did the stewardess on the flight. They lied. The plane left 10 min before we landed. We were stranded. Also, I got food poisoning from their food. They did nothing to help. They would not pay for the hotel we wanted, when we asked they rudely served everyone else they stranded first. The employee would not call his supervisor or give his name. The next morning i saw a doctor but the stomache infection was so bad i couldn't sit up or walk. The doctor wrote this on my clearance to fly document. I needed to get to India to get better medical help. We presented this to the kenya airlines agent and she would do nothing to help. She had business class reclining seats available but would not upgrade me. Even after everything this shitty airline has caused. Unbelievable. Every step along the way of this nightmare could have been made better, so much better, by some human decency but instead we got rude disregard."

Voordelen: "They wheelchaired my companion to the airport after delayed medical examination to make the flight."
Nadelen: "Kenya changed my flight to two hours later 18 hours before I was to leave. Making me have a 10 minute connection. Then after an hour in a airline office they promised to hold my connection. When my flight landed on time, they did not hold my connection. So they changed my flight and didn’t follow through on the fix. We would now miss wedding activities and business meetings. Then my partner got sick and they refused to taxi us to hotel for the night but take a bus that leaves every three hours. Her sickness got worse and there was a Kenyan airlines doctor who evaluated her at the airport after waiting 40 minutes laying at check in with her crying due to pain. We had a medical release from the doctor saying she needed extra space to lay down but the check in manager refused to make room for her saying the flight is full and she would not upgrade her to accommodate the medical release because we had an economy ticket. My partner looked so bad that the flight crew considered kicking us off but eventually made the space for her to lay down and were helpful on the flight. This is this disgraceful and the worst experience I’ve had with any company."

Nadelen: "Made it to the airport 1hour and 15 min before the flight and was denied boarding. Airport would not allow me to see the ticket agent. Terrible experience."

Voordelen: "The plane and flight crew were fine"
Nadelen: "Overbooked flight- cancelled many people's trips! A dozen people with printed out and confirmed flights were turned away and asked to book with other airlines. Anyone who didn't checkin online was left at the airport- even those who booked, paid in full, and confirmed in person at the Kenya Airways office the day before. And we were all at the airport hours early. The ground staff in Arusha had no idea how to check people into the flight. They lied to us about what was happening and wouldn't update us about how they overbooked. They tried to email the main office and refused to just call them on the phone. I only got on the flight because I ignored their suggestion to 'just go sit down and let them work it out'. For people who did what they were told- they all missed the flight. I did online checkin on my phone and then all of a sudden there was a seat for me on the plane and I got on. Everyone else was left at the airport with no idea what was happening. I normally love Kenya Airways, but this level of overbooking and incompetent ground staff made me change my mind."

Nadelen: "Boarding lines were a bit chaotic."

Voordelen: "Departed on time and arrived on time . Staff very courteous"

Nadelen: "I didn't like the fact that i couldn't reach out to a representative at the airport at 1am thus missing my flight. When their offices opened trying to get them to book me on the next flight, i was told to pay full price. Their customer service is a complete joke. They should stay out of business."

Voordelen: "flights were slightly delayed but we were updated often and accurately. Flight staff were awesome, super nice and well spoken!"

Nadelen: "Notorious for flight delays! How can you cancel an entire flight the day before?! Horrible! The delays are very annoying! Kenya Airways you're fired! Kayak, you guys should remove their crappy service from your options!! I only found out about the delay from their online service. The actual people suck! And do not even try to get through on their customer service line!"

Nadelen: "It delayed one hour both tip. I lost my time to promise with my guest. Keep the filght time."

Voordelen: "Ground check-in, onboard staff, plane comfort were all fine and what normally happens. Nice leather seats and space on Embraer plane."
Nadelen: "At check-in we were told the departure time was an hour late - when I arrived at 2:00am. As I only had 1 hour and 55 minutes in Nairobi before flight to Johannesburg, I was a bit concerned and had to rush from plane to departure gate. Pilot said flight was late due to " plane arriving late", which I think meant - it isn't our fault."

Voordelen: "KQ is the best East African airline by far. The planes are newer and cleaner and the flight attendants really do make an effort to give a high-level of customer service. I've missed my transfer due to a weather delay before and was impressed with KQs attention to getting me overnight accommodation. It would be great if we could sort out the regular delays of KQ410 into Entebbe which directly impacts KQ411 back out to NBO. The regular delays are often due to weather but just as often due to scheduling or flight issues. Delaying that flight makes my transfers really tight and adds some stress to my experience, especially with the extra security level in Nairobi. If we could find a way to fast track transfers, that would be an improvement. Overall, KQ is the best, but please continue to find ways to be better."

Voordelen: "KQ is one of the few I like among African airliners for its streamlined system and staff's friendliness. This time i took note of a young male CA called Tonny who was very smiley all along, demonstrated care towards all passengers, and seemed to enjoy his work genuinely - which is sadly hard to experience with other global airliners. The staff are well-trained, unlike ET, interacting with passengers on an Raul footing, and it was a pleasant journey this time as well."
Nadelen: "I am not quite sure if the staff checking passengers in for the flight in EBB were KQ employees, but with that reservation, I was quite disappointed to learn hat KQ does not provide accommodation for 11-hour transit in Nairobi and make its clients stay inside the airport. I almost assumed that the overnight accommodation is given for such a long layover, but nooo! Even when I asked the checkin lady at the alone counter desk at EBB return modestly, "Do you by any chance provide a hotel room for me for the long transit?" She had the guts to say a straight no without a smile or looking into my eyes. I eventually booked a hotel room on my own which cost me nearly $100. I thought that was ridiculous service modality for a major African airliner."

Voordelen: "The service was great. From the time I boarded I was treated very well. The staff was friendly and it made traveling an ease."

Nadelen: "The price to adjust my ticket was far more than a new ticket. Incredibly difficult to work with. Will do everything in my power to not fly Kenyan airlines again. The airline policies are what is holding the airline back, not the people in the ground."

Nadelen: "Was not a direct flight. Cancelled a flight 24 hours in advance and did not inform customers. Advertise direct flights that are actually indirect with layovers. Second flight (on a "direct flight" itinerary) was delayed 5 hours because the co-pilot was stuck in traffic."

Nadelen: "My first flight was an hour delayed with no apologies which made me miss my flight in Nairobi. During the delay, people were not hospitable nor accommodating. I was stuck for 6 hours and then that flight was delayed an hour. Once on my second flight, they had open seating in which I got a terrible seat instead of the one i had requested and was on my ticket. Very unhappy, and I used to love Kenya airways."

Voordelen: "the staff were great, flight was on time, shared good information during flight and were helpful. Meal was good along with meal service."
Nadelen: "Headphones were still in seat from earlier flight so didn't get replaced. Overhead storage was tight."

Nadelen: "they need to do a better job announcing gate changes and delays. The flight gate changed last minute, but there were a bunch of people confused and still waiting at the old gate. The flight was also an hour late but they never made any announcement about it."
