I would definitely recommend JAL to others."

Voordelen: "Our flight was delayed due to lightning strike on arriving flight, we were transferred to non stop EVA Airline so we can get home and not need a connecting flight in Japan. JAL did all these arrangements without us requesting it. They also were very polite and got our luggage in time to be on the flight with us. JAL is truly a top airline in the world."

Then during my trip I was trying to look at what costs and fees would be associated with changing my flight and extending the trip. The website was hard to navigate and offered very little information"

Voordelen: "As expected not overly done nor less of comfort and services. Only it was confusing that I had to move from international terminal to Domestic terminal due to first transfer was with in Domestic airport."
Nadelen: "I have purchased Japan Airline to travel but unexpectedly I had to deal with American Air for half of my flight. God help them please. It was hell from start to finish. Japan Air, I feel sorry for you that your alliance with American Air."

Voordelen: "Lots of room in premium economy, good entertainment selection. Clean bathroom ! Excellent service. Food was mediocre."

Nadelen: "Our flight was delayed for two hours. We have a connecting flight from Osaka to Los Angeles, which we were worried we couldn't make it. They told me the flight will wait for us because there were 20 plus people also need to get on that plane. When the time of boarding we heard they were calling us to the front and explained the flight we were suppose to be connecting already took off. They had to booked us to another airline. We were extremely disappointed! We asked if we could took another Japanese airline but they said our luggages were already transferred to that airline and the tickets were printed! Mosf importantly we have already waited in airport 5 hours and they needed us to wait for another 3 hours! Very bad experience with how they dealing with this situation!"

Nadelen: "Checking in with Japan Airlines was a serious hassle. I had my e-ticket but they kept asking me if I had already paid. The flight was apparently overbooked but than at the last minute, they gave me and my girlfriend seats separated from each other. I sat in the back, she sat in front. The tickets also had trouble scanning and kayak isn't a known agency."

Voordelen: "The stewardess of the flight from LA to Osaka was awesome , I don't remember her exactly name , I think she is older then other crew members working that day on economy class . She was very professional , serving customer with the best she can. Always smiles. I feel good whenever I see her walks by, smile and very professional When the meal was serve but they only had one dish to choose instead of two ( I guess that day Chicken Masala dish was high on demand so there are only Japanese dish left) she said we are so sorry with a very sincere gesture , I chose Japanese food because I like Japanese food anyway , she politely thanks me for my choice and later bring a bag of small mix snack for me and said thank you for being flexible . Later on, when we getting off the airplane she even helped me to stroll my carry on out to the airplane because I was carry too many stuffs with me and my daughter being so tired of the long flight so I have to comforted my daughter . The stewardess saw that and helping me a hand . I wish every airlines has someone like this crew member . Thank you so much for the awesome service on Japan Airlines."

The hostesses were super friendly always offering some sort of beverage, the food was tasty (Be careful not to drop noodles on yourself like I did, those bad boys left a little mark). The video selection wasn't huge, but it was definitely adequate with good titles. Maybe I haven't noticed this before in other airlines, but they had new toothbrushes (packaged, not someone's forgotten toothbrush) in the restroom so the poor sap next to me didn't have to smell my stinky breath. Finally, they were quick with boarding! They were very punctual and we took off right when we got on, so nice!"
Nadelen: "The seats were pretty adequately sized, however, I felt like I couldn't lay back too far or if the the person in front of me did, it made it really difficult to get the seats. Also, I thought it was my headphones, but it happened on a couple of flights with different headphones, but the audio only comes out of one earphone which was slightly annoying... Other than those things, JAL is super solid and I would recommend it to anyone considering them."

Voordelen: "The flight attendants are quick in services and with great manner. Cabin foods are generous, filled with variety and tasting the best among various international airlines that I have experienced between LAX and Taipei, Taiwan in the past ten years. The seat belt on light and bell were kept at minimal, in contrast to other airlines like EVA, China Airlines, Korean Airlines and United Airlines."

Voordelen: "What sets JAL apart is the quality of service both on the ground and in the air. As customers, even in economy, no request was too minor to be treated as the most important of the day. Both legs were on time, the meals were excellent, and the chouce of movies was more than adequate. I will fly with JAL again."

Voordelen: "L'équipage est très avenant et n'hésite pas à parler un anglais compréhensible pour les étrangers. Mes deux vols n'étaient que de 45min mais nous avons eu droit à un accès wifi et une collation (boissons). Ponctuel et pilotage souple."

Voordelen: "Seat was very comfortable and had many games and movies to keep me preoccupied during the flight."
Nadelen: "I didn't like that the crew at check-in and the crew on the plane told me different things. The crew at check-in told me I could keep my purse with me, and the crew on the airline told me I had to put it overhead. Please be consistent! Flying is very stressful for me, and I want the staff to make it as stress-free as possible. As for boarding, I wasn't allowed into the gate until an hour before. What really bothered me was that they had already let some people into the gate and shut some other people out. Either let people in or don't. Don't follow the rules halfway because then they won't mean anything. I was very shocked by this and have never experienced this at any airline before. All I wanted to do was sit down and relax at the gate before boarding. If this ever happened to me again, I would not fly with the same airlines. To think that this was a JAL flight, with such a high reputation of customer service, makes me even more wary of booking a flight with JAL. I didn't appreciate being treated that way, and I will not tolerate it if it happens again."

Voordelen: "Me & my family already travel from penang malaysia to kuala lumpur air port, reached KLIA to check in, the MAS/JAL counter told me that our ticket been void by agnet kayak/flight network. Nothing can the counter do till i've to call kayak/flight network. One hour conversation from malaysia to canada. What a wast & replace me with air china. Stupid kayak & flight network."

First of all he takes off his shoes and then his socks and crosses his legs so his barefoot is right next to my tray table. Then he proceeds to unbutton his pants and unbuckle his belt. Reaches down into his nethers and takes a good whiff of his hand. This passenger continually kept encroaching into my seat, either sitting on a portion of my leg or putting his shoulder over my shoulder, even at one point used me as lean on. It was a 9 hour flight of misery... I was definitely uncomfortable for majority of that flight due to the passenger in 40A on flight NH176"

Voordelen: "This was my first time flying ANA (LAX to Haneda and back) and I have to admit it was surprisingly great. I am a pretty tall guy and found the room for my feet in economy to be more than adequate even though i found myself in a middle seat both flights. The flight attendants were extremely attentive, even as my flights were both overnight/red-eyes. The selection of movies available at each seat was pretty good and included your standard Hollywood stuff along with a decent selection of Japanese film, television, and various documentaries. Whether or not subtitles are available for non-Japanese speakers for Japanese language media was kind of hit and miss (I actually did browse around quite a bit), but I was impressed nonetheless. I would warn some western based travelers that they may not find the food to be all that appetizing. I chose the Japanese style option both flights (rice, miso, salad, fish), however I know that had I had any of my family members along for the flight they would have gone with the international option and they probably wouldn't have enjoyed it all that much."

Nadelen: "I usually take an aisle seat, but it was not available this time. Furthermore, my ajacent passenger to my right hand side had cold and often coughed and I myseld caught cold from him during this flight...."

Nadelen: "I had to ask 3 times for an arrival card from the crew. Bread was dry. There should have been a breakfast served prior to landing, but no food service after 1 a.m. though flight arrived at 7:40 a.m. Timing of meals was not convenient for me at all. They wake you up at 1 a.m. for your main dinner. I would have preferred to sleep until 5 a.m. then have a good breakfast. The amenity kit in Business Class was substandard when compared to other airlines"

Voordelen: "The crew was very polite and very helpful. Boarding process was smooth and easy, however, the Singapore airport has security checks at every gate prior to boarding. This meant that after clearing this security process at the gate, bathrooms were not available until after boarding the flight and drinking water stations were not easily found in the secure boarding area. The aircraft was comfortable, menus were distributed early so that meal options could be made with full information in advance. The food was good and made available at routine intervals."
Nadelen: "On a 14 hour flight, staying well hydrated is very critical and difficult. It would have been nice for the crew to make more frequent trips through the cabin to offer just water refills to keep passengers hydrated and reduce plastic cup usage."

The food, if such a term may be applied here, was inedible. Just vile. In flight entertainment was a complete joke. Boarding was awful, but it always is. Seats were extremely uncomfortable. This racket is the ultimate way to rip somebody off of $1000. Horrible."

Nadelen: "without any possibility to call back. or to call again while being late, when arrived with plenty of time before departure. nobody was on the gate. when tryed to do all myself whithin minutes tsa didnt bother to speedup process and it took forever. i missed my flight literally in seconds."

Nadelen: "Screaming children. Totally clueless, rude flight crew. Next time kids are screaming for three hours straight on a red eye, maybe offer the parents some assistance. Makes the “perks” like hot towels seem ridiculous when staff are completely indifferent."

Even the seatback pockets are better with multiple pockets including one that fits most mobile phones. The windows turn tinted blue instead of drawing shades down—what?!"

The entire flight was very comfortable and made the 9 hour journey from Manchester to Houston Texas fast and enjoyable. The flight attendants always had a wonderful smile which felt genuine many a time and always made an effort to speak at the level of the passenger. When I had trouble connecting to the Wifi, one attendant even knelt down and connected my phone manually as I was not tech savvy in this regard. The food was of much higher quality as well compared to other airlines I traveled with on this trip."
Nadelen: "Really the only issue was there was a 2 hour delay on departure, however this was due to issues out of control of the airline and I did not mind as the airline's ambience and my experience with it overshadowed any delays."

Nadelen: "The seating room is poor for someone who is 6'2" tall. My wife had issues with her ankles swelling. When we tried to get a cold compress to put on them we never received it. We also asked for some fruit instead of the pizza snack and didn't receive it either. I know you don't have much control over passengers, but we had a two year old child in our seating area and it screamed and cried virtually the entire 14 hour flight. Very annoying."

Nadelen: "The plane is great but the young gentlemen next to me is 300lb+(my best guest He's at least 6'2" possibly in his teen or early 20s) Don't get me wrong but to sit in coach for 14 hours with him in the middle seat is kind of a nightmare. Half of the way we all went to a bathroom and I don't blame him but the bathroom must be to small to clean up himself for I have to sit with feces smell for the rest of the flight. Imagine that. This is my second leg of this long flight from BKK to NYC. The first leg to dubai is horrible enough but this one top that by far!!!!"

Nadelen: "They changed my pre reserved seat without telling me and I was by the bathroom. Super uncomfortable the entire flight."

Voordelen: "Been flying CX for years and for some reasons this time all the staff members were excellent. From ground to air crew everyone was well informed, nice and helpful. Another surprise was the vegan meal I ordered. Airplane food in general is disgusting, but this time the vegan meal was delicious."
Nadelen: "Flying out from JFK is a nightmare, we had to wait for 40 mins on the runway. Not sure if airlines can actually improve that?"

Nadelen: "The flight was delayed an hour. Airport crew leaves a lot to be desired. The passenger next to me took up too much space- no fault of the airline tho. The soy chicken was salty."

Voordelen: "CX still has good offerings on flights from their home in Hong Kong to other destinations."
Nadelen: "However, CX for International Regional is, in no way, comparable to their better long-haul routes. That being said, the entire airline has lost its luster like their home country is losing their value with prices going up and value for-the-dollar going down."

Nadelen: "The boarding from NY to Hong Kong was really well organized, with people in the back of the plane getting on first so that it was easy for everyone to get right in. This did not happen on the return flight from Hong Kong. Further, at one point we were rousted from the waiting room and made to go through a second inspection, having are bags searched again, and having random people go through especially invasive searches. Very unpleasant and unnerving as we were given no reason for this."

Voordelen: "Flight attendant spoke good Mandarin and was willing to continue to speak it even to someone who didn't look like a Chinese speaker - unlike some Chinese airlines where they launch into English assuming that if you don't look Chinese you can't speak Chinese."

Nadelen: "Always ran out of what we wanted for our meal, for both meals we didn't get our chosen meal. Ran out of snacks, not enough food. Water served from pitcher tasted moldy."

Nadelen: "The seats were extremely uncomfortable and dirty. Overall, the plane was very dirty. Floors were dirty. Plane was freezing and they didn't provide us with blankets. The staff was slightly aggressive and didn't want to help. They were more transactional in wanting to just do the basics of their jobs and not go beyond - unlike singapore airlines, Turkish airlines, or emirates."

Voordelen: "The crew and staff were generally friendly and the food was fine."
Nadelen: "For the first time in thirteen years traveling with my guitar, I was forced to check in my guitar, potentially in violation of the US Department of Transportation's rule on musical instruments. While my guitar thankfully arrived in good condition, this caused an unnecessary amount of stress in my 24 total hours of travel. I'd highly advise Cathay Pacific to revise their inflexible stance towards musical instruments, as many passengers brought carry-on bags which were much larger than my guitar in its case."

Voordelen: "We were really taken care of and had a great experience. From the cleanliness of the plane, to the kind staff and generous in flight services/accommodations, we were very pleased. We look forward to flying Cathay Pacific again!"
