Voordelen: "JAL lounge at Haneda was the best I've ever been in. The Business Class configuration is terrific -- as private as can be on an airplane, without going First. And the JAL staff, on the ground as well as in the air, are Grade A diplomats, counselors, and -- in a word -- professionals. Which is sorely lacking in US air carriers, who don't seem to understand that air travel is a service industry, and to excel in a service industry, PEOPLE are most important to the customers. Specifically, having enough people: US airline employees are well-trained professionals too, but "corporate" consistently under-hires/deploys, which leaves employees juggling far too much at once, which degrades the service experience for the customer. Yeah, I get "the bottom line," but service industry customers will always go to businesses that offer better service. Ok, rant over. JAL is tops."

The airline required documentation from my fathers doc which I provided. He was not going anywhere for at least a year (radiation and chemo) and the denied even credit.I was able to get my parents tickets refunded by a different airline. NEVER Again. my father passed 8/12/2018. Our trip was scheduled for 9/13/2018. Very disappointing.see"

Voordelen: "It was impossible to breathe throughout the 13-hour flight. It was very hot and humid. Several people asked for the temperature to be adjusted but they never really took care of it. The food was really cheap and stale--quite a disappointment for an expensive flight Tokyo-New York."

Tv is in readable large and clear with a mini screen in the remote. The food was outstanding. Waygu beef medium rare. Washrooms are the cleanest in the sky. Definite repeat!"

Nadelen: "Vegetarian food very difficult to book on JAL. Unlike most other major airlines they don't offer a vegetarian option routinely on their menus. Both I and another passenger who flew JAL the weekend before found the vegetarian food poor - very bland and too salty. The exact same menu all four times we flew. A pity as the rest of the service wa excellent. If JAL wishes to attract more international customers it would be a good idea for it to broaden its global perspective and provide better vegetarian options. I know others who've had similar concerns about other types of special meal."
Voordelen: "Everyone on the flight was very nice and helpful. Food was excellent! There were a lot of choices of movies to watch. It was probably the best flight experience I've ever had and I travel overseas quite a lot. If I ever get the chance to fly them again, I will. Great service and outstanding experience."
Voordelen: "I have gotten used to long flights on various American airlines where it seems the staff do the minimal amount. Service is so incredibly better on Japan Airlines. Staff respond when you ask for assistance. They smile and work with the passengers. They were actively present almost all the time which was amazing. There is just no, "no," on Japanese Airlines. I loved the media options."
Nadelen: "It has been a while but the food was not as good as I remembered from way back when, or maybe that was Korean Air? It was, however, hot when it should be hot and cold when it should be cold."

Nadelen: "I didn't like the other asian flight attendants. They were rude. Asked for water, she said we're not serving water only juice at this time. Asked for Consume or Dashi there weren't any. asked for diet coke they ran out. very small things but weren't able to satisfy our trip back to HNL."
Voordelen: "Japan Airline employees are courteous and gracious. The plane and seats were comfortable, and they offered complimentary food and movies. I would definitely fly this airlines again."

Nadelen: "There was an uncontrolled child kicking my travel companions seat and screaming for much of the flight. I’m not sure what United could do but relocating us or the passengers with the screaming child would have made the flight more comfortable."

Nadelen: "Seats were designed for Japanese folks. Nothing like being stuffed into a center seat with narrow seats."

Nadelen: "Asked specifically at the ticketing counter not to be seated in a non-emergency row. Were seated in an emergency row. For a 12 hour flight with seats that don't recline and nothing the on-board staff could do about the ticket counter's negligence and bad faith other than apologize. Seated upright for an overnight flight (for the second time on the same trip) for 12 hours. Not a pleasant experience. Had a feeling ANA would be bush league. This trip confirmed those suspicions. It wasn't the crew's fault (though they, unfortunately bore the brunt of my displeasure) so much as the counter's fault, but airlines charging what they are shouldn't be putting passengers or crew in this position. The ticket counter folks literally mislead us. They specifically told us that these were not emergency row seats and that we would have reclining seats and seatback displays in front of us like everyone else. The entire reason I asked is because we got stuck in the last row on the way in with seats that don't recline, which blows for a 12 hour red-eye flight. Instead we got seats that did not recline and a fold out screen that came from the right-hand arm rest. Not the end of the world if one had no choice, but certainly not what I paid for and certainly not what the ticketing counter people stated we were getting (under specific inquiry about the very point). The ticketing counter in particular seems to be skeevy, at best. To the detriment of their own crew, who is left apologizing for things they can do nothing about. As stated, this is a bush league international carrier. Avoid unless you love sleepless nights crossing the international dateline..."
Voordelen: "The flight attendants on my ANA flight from Beijing to Tokyo were the most pleasant group of people I’ve seen for a long time."

Nadelen: "I find the 777 SFO -> Tokyo, and Tokyo -> SFO cabin gets too warm when trying to sleep. With a warm blanket provided, I would suggest keeping the cabin a bit cooler and providing extra blankets if people need them. Also the movie selection on ANA is not nearly as comprehensive as what United provides on international flights."
Voordelen: "Our seats did not recline, but were locked in the fully upright position, making it impossible to sleep. If this is policy for ANA, many customers will go to other airlines."

Nadelen: "I was very frustrated because I thought I had 90 minutes between flights but by the time I got my luggage it was too late to get my scheduled plane. This forced me to wait two hours for the next plane after I had been on a plane for 13 hours."
