Voordelen: "JAL lounge at Haneda was the best I've ever been in. The Business Class configuration is terrific -- as private as can be on an airplane, without going First. And the JAL staff, on the ground as well as in the air, are Grade A diplomats, counselors, and -- in a word -- professionals. Which is sorely lacking in US air carriers, who don't seem to understand that air travel is a service industry, and to excel in a service industry, PEOPLE are most important to the customers. Specifically, having enough people: US airline employees are well-trained professionals too, but "corporate" consistently under-hires/deploys, which leaves employees juggling far too much at once, which degrades the service experience for the customer. Yeah, I get "the bottom line," but service industry customers will always go to businesses that offer better service. Ok, rant over. JAL is tops."
Nadelen: "Security and Immigration at Tokyo Haneda is harder than at US airports, but that's to be expected and nothing that JAL can control."

Voordelen: "From the food (dinner and lunch), to the spacious seats, to the impressive beverage selection, there is little I would change. The small touches, including coming through the cabin regularly with delicious green tea, made this a wonderful flight."
Voordelen: "everything. Flying on JAL was a fantastic experience. I'm not much for flying and was worried about the long flight, but I loved every minute of it. The flight attendance were so sweet and nice, the food was great. I would even go to Japan again just to fly with JAL!!!"

Voordelen: "Best service and food among a few hundred flights I have taken so far. CAs were always courteous. They are smiling to each other and looked happy. It was really nice to see that."
Nadelen: "When booking the flights, I didn't know that I wasn't able to reserve a seat until check-in at the airport. Even usual online check-in was available for my ticket. I might have not purchased this ticket if I knew this limitation. It would be nice to know it at the time of booking."
Voordelen: "Food and beverages were served promptly. Moreover there were several rounds of coffee and tea service so that I never went thirsty. My economy seating was still given first class service."
Voordelen: "We traveled with our 1.5 year old and JAL was incredibly accommodating and made our trip very enjoyable. They went above and beyond to make sure our trip was smooth and provided impeccable service."
Voordelen: "It was impossible to breathe throughout the 13-hour flight. It was very hot and humid. Several people asked for the temperature to be adjusted but they never really took care of it. The food was really cheap and stale--quite a disappointment for an expensive flight Tokyo-New York."
Voordelen: "Lots of leg room in economy, flat screen, very friendly crew, and this was the cheapest direct flight to Japan I could find 2 weeks in advance!"
Voordelen: "Crew was great, just like Japanese specific hospitality. Crew clean up toilet and keep refilling toilet supply. Airplane was nice and clean. Entertainment equipment was up to date."
Nadelen: "I could not log in in JAL website using mileage account. They said it has been maintanance mode for a while and could not tell when it would be completed. I tried a month later but the problem was not solved. They foward any problems and inquiries to reservation center but calling the number won't find anyone to talk. Always they put me on hold for hours and never reached anyone. I have food allergy and tried to request for special meals but the option was not there under my eticket number as described in their website. They say the option may not be available because I purchased my ticket from 3rd party, not from JAL or it was code share flight. Very inconvenient. I had to skip 2 meals out of 3in leaving for Japan. I got very hungry at the end of the flight...."

Also I would appreciate coffee or some drink while waiting...I guess that's not possible in this case."

Voordelen: "My wife and I made the rookie mistake of showing up to the wrong airport in Osaka but the JAL staff helped us by transferring our reservation to a later flight so that we were still able to make our connecting flight from Tokyo to San Francisco. We're grateful to the entire staff at JAL for saving us a lot of time and money!"

Nadelen: "Checking in with Japan Airlines was a serious hassle. I had my e-ticket but they kept asking me if I had already paid. The flight was apparently overbooked but than at the last minute, they gave me and my girlfriend seats separated from each other. I sat in the back, she sat in front. The tickets also had trouble scanning and kayak isn't a known agency."
Voordelen: "The flight was smooth and the seating was comfortable."
Nadelen: "It was an evening flight, but the cabin lights were never dimmed, so it was difficult to rest."

Nadelen: "Seats were uncomfortable, food was terrible"
Voordelen: "Crew service is adequate. There's not much to complain about. Also I like they always put extra stuff on a table in the back, in case any passenger want to get extra between meals."
Nadelen: "The aisle is getting narrower and narrower. I sat by the aisle, and my elbow sometimes got in the way inadvertently or unintentionally."
Voordelen: "We were numb from a long flight over the ocean. Pleasant flight with helpful crew, and it helped that some of them knew English."
Voordelen: "I have gotten used to long flights on various American airlines where it seems the staff do the minimal amount. Service is so incredibly better on Japan Airlines. Staff respond when you ask for assistance. They smile and work with the passengers. They were actively present almost all the time which was amazing. There is just no, "no," on Japanese Airlines. I loved the media options."
Nadelen: "It has been a while but the food was not as good as I remembered from way back when, or maybe that was Korean Air? It was, however, hot when it should be hot and cold when it should be cold."

Voordelen: "The flight's timing and airports are perfect for a short weekend getaway between Seoul and Tokyo. JAL service is also perfect!"

Nadelen: "The flight attendants were talking in the back all through the flight. I was seated third row from the back, so they were audible throughout the flight and very annoying."
Voordelen: "Excellent service by JAL check-in people and the flight crew. Also, for a standard economy seat, I found the seat spacing and resulting legroom was generous - and I'm 6 ft. tall."

Nadelen: "They love the PA system. They want to make announcements in multiple languages all the time."
Voordelen: "The fact that everything is included with the flight makes it very easy to fly with JAL. The staff was friendly and helpful when I was checking in. The agent tried her best to get me a window or aisle seat but was unable to. That didn't matter though. Airlines in the US should learn from them and treat their customers the same way."
Voordelen: "L'équipage est très avenant et n'hésite pas à parler un anglais compréhensible pour les étrangers. Mes deux vols n'étaient que de 45min mais nous avons eu droit à un accès wifi et une collation (boissons). Ponctuel et pilotage souple."

Nadelen: "In-Flight Wi-Fi has archaic plans… 30MB Chat App-only Plan for 2-Hours. It also usually has a pause button to halt and resume the internet session later, but there wasn’t one this time."
Voordelen: "One of several preferred airlines when flying to Asia. Really enjoy their service, and it's wonderful to wake up to many beauties in view!"

Nadelen: "My son did not like any of the meal selections between beef and fish. We asked for a ramen noodle cup instead that the flight crew denied they had, only after seeing them offer it to another family just seconds before. I was very disappointed!! I believe the flight attendant knew of my concerns because she started asking me if the service was ok. If your doing a good job, then you won’t have to ask."
Nadelen: "We were not provided vegetarian food on two legs of journey although we had earlier informed the airlines."
Voordelen: "I ordered a Indian vegeterian meal. It was very good. I feel bad about all the playin cups, and garbage that gets wasted. Please recycle everything."
Nadelen: "The plane was very cold. A lot of movies were offered but I couldn't find anything I wanted to watch."
Voordelen: "ending meal was very late like an hour or less before landing"
Nadelen: "racial discrimination by the flight attendants thinking that I didn't know Japanese language even though I was white. I could see it happening."
Voordelen: "Comfy chairs and good food on Singapore Airlines."
Nadelen: "Some of the male crew didn't do anything, the females did all the interactive work in serving and helping the disabled as far as I could see."
Voordelen: "Everything was pretty great. Crew is very nice. Food was very good actually. 2 meals with snacks when asked. Hot towels were given a couple of times. Drinks were served and offered throughout the flight. Socks and toothbrush also given. Entertainment was great with a good mix of movies. Chairs were comfy and leg space was ok."
Nadelen: "I don't think I would complain about the space otherwise except that the person in front of me decided to recline their chair all the way back. It was a tight and fairly uncomfortable ride the rest of the time."
Voordelen: "The crew was really great, so friendly and accommodating. I wasn't able to order a vegetarian meal ahead of time, but they still gave me one on board when I asked. There was an amazing selection of movies and they refilled my drinks without even asking. I would recommend this airline to anyone traveling to Asia."

Nadelen: "My daughter had the vegetarian oriental - and it was basically a ball of slim. My son had the lactose free meal and it was broccoli and potatoes. We switched our return flight meals to the regular in-flight meal. It was better, but not great."

Nadelen: "I asked for decaf coffee and the attendant totally forgot about my request."
Voordelen: "The air stewardesses took their time to get back to me about a question I posed to them. It took 2 stewardesses and 3 efforts."
Voordelen: "The attendants were helpful, smiling and friendly. The entire time We flew with an 18 month old and they came looking for us before he flight to help us carry our stuff on board. They gave her a toy, asked for her name, and checked on us often. They also gave my husband and I an option for early food service so that one of us could help our daughter eat. The movie selection was great. Take off, flight and landing were smooth. And we arrive half an hour early both directions!"

Voordelen: "Best economy experience I've ever had. The cabin crew is very attentive, constantly coming around with drinks and water refills. They also had decent light snacks in case you were hungry between meals. I also loved the chairback setup and the entertainment unit. If flying economy, Singapore will be my airline of choice."
Nadelen: "Food was meh. Above average, but still not amazing."
Nadelen: "On my trip to Japan, the staff was incredibly rude. Horrible commendations. The controls didn't work. And the desert had mold in it."

Nadelen: "Weren't informed of status of connecting flight while in flight. Learnt that the connecting flight was held back on arrival in terminal."

Voordelen: "Check in and boarding were flawless. The flight left about one hour late. The seats in coach are getting smaller and smaller. I got an aisle seat to have a little extra room (I'm 6'1") only to get hit big time by the food cart (they did apologize). The food was plentiful, but mediocre at best. The flight attendants were working hard, but we're abrupt and tired. Overall, I have three stars, when in the past, flying SA was always a five star experience. It got me back home though. :)"

Voordelen: "Flight crew we're attentive and anticipated issues. The flight was smooth and the lavatories were clean and stocked. Love the hot towels at the beginning and end of the flight."
Nadelen: "Not much to be honest. I suppose if I could say anything it would the seats in economy are a bit cramped, but that's to be expected."

Nadelen: "We were supposed to fly back to Los Angeles from Tokyo on Wednesday, August 24th. We got to Tokyo Narita a little later than planned due to the Narita Express train being delayed. I had received emails that our flight had changed gates, and was then delayed, but when my sister and I went to check into our flight, we were told we were unable to board because it was too late. I thought it was absurd because the flight had not even started boarding, and I had gotten an email saying it was delayed. We tried to reason with them, but they would not let us on the flight. It was imperative that we got back to Los Angeles on Wednesday, but all our plans were ruined due to them bumping us off the flight. My sister had a connecting flight to Boston, which she then had to reschedule and was charged for. We were stuck another night in Tokyo, where we had to spend money on a hotel. The Singapore Airlines attendants eventually informed us that we could get on a flight the next day. This delayed us by 24 hours, which was highly inconvenient. It was also especially unnecessary since due to the flight being delayed, we would have absolutely been able to make it. I do not appreciate being bumped off of a flight due to airlines wanting to make more money, especially being stuck overseas. Its not like it was a domestic flight where we could just hop on another one in the next few hours, this totally derailed all of our plans. I do not appreciate the inflexibility of the Singapore Airlines agents, and this is not an experience that makes me want to recommend flying with Singapore Airlines. I appreciate that they did not charge us, however it was a major inconvenience that could have simply been avoided by better customer service and understanding."
Voordelen: "I like that I could check in 2 suitcase and able to choose my sitting when it's available."
Voordelen: "The flight was an hour shorter than i expected. The staff was around and attentive. I felt like i won the lottery with flights"
Nadelen: "Not one complaint"

The staff were really friendly and very accommodating. There was a slight delay on our departure though…

The bathroom is not that good.. dirty.. the sink is not properly draining.. (all bathrooms - all flights- back&forth) . There was no toilet paper seat either going to DC. Crew is not picking up trays/trash right away. Once, we even brought our tray in the back. Food should be mix of western& middle east. middle east food is a bit too much for some passengers- too smelly, spicy,— The crew are nice though. Very helpful and friendly.

EXCELLENT SERVICES

This is the worst flight experience

Nadelen: "Qatar airways changed the flight time which made the layover 8 hours instead of 3 hours. For the inconvenient it was caused Qatar airways made no effort to compensate."
Nadelen: "The flight was 3 hours delayed - and the captain never told us exactly what was wrong. The boarding lane was a chaos as well - and the tv screens never really worked. Terrible!"
Nadelen: "L'embarquement: pas de passerelle. Accès par bus. Dommage mais on sait que ça peut arriver à Doha. Longue attente dans le bus. Pas de "traitement Business". Température un peu basse pendant la nuit."
Nadelen: "Friendly and wellmennerd team."
Voordelen: "Very friendly crew, good space in my seat, kept the plane dark and quiet for the overnight flight"

Nadelen: "The luggage’s handler was probably throwing all the luggages around which cause my items to be broken. I have informed the counter staff of my fragile item yet I was shocked when I saw what has happened. I would appreciate if some compensation will be given."

Voordelen: "The crew was professional. I had acute diarrhoea they insisted to eat some thing before they gave me the medicine,which was perfect. They checked every time my situation they even asked if I need a doctor waiting for me at the airport."

Voordelen: "Cet avion un B--777 avait plus d’espace pour les jambes, ce qui fut fortement apprécie.. Ce n'était pas le cas pour les épaules, surtout si le voisin est le moindrement corpulent ou un peu hors norme, ce qui n'est pas mon cas, ni celui de mon épouse."

Nadelen: "Some Cabin Crew are RUDE fromEven though Cabin Crew manage to gave us what we preferred to eat. They are the best. Doha -Kathmandu. They treated some senior citizens passengers who wouldn’t understand english with some disrespect. In addition, we had some problem with meal that was pre-ordered. It was probably system glitch but our meal selection wasn’t registered and Crew didn’t have idea about our meal."

They ran out of non veg dinner..which wasn't really bad considering all that could go wrong.

It was an okay experience. It felt like crew were doing their jobs, rather than treating the passengers as customers. Food was just average. nothing special which will influence me to prefer emirates to other airlines. Thankfully no delays.

Fine Emirates service, everything you'd expect. Good food and drink, good service, good entertainment. Not the worst seats, for economy class. Only real problem was the lack of mask enforcement. Probably about 5% of passengers didn't bother, and the crew didn't do anything to ask them.

If you running late you need to communicate it to the passengers 1 hr delay and no one at the gate to update us Very stressful as I has a connection to catch

I was traveling with my 87 yr old mother and they did little to help, especially when we needed the restroom but they had the aisle blocked for most of the time, serving food. There was no way to get around to access the bathroom and the crew turned us away from the only available bathroom in the front. Really?! Not impressed at all. Also the flt was 30 minutes late making our connection tight. One of the young, gorgeous stewardesses was rude and dismissive of me when I asked about it."

If they would have informed and talked with the other customers that would have been fine but being treated like a piece of furniture isn't nice. Plus, continuous strikes in Belgium see a joke, check-in luggages delayed for plenty of airlines. This country doesn't even know what strike mean anymore being so often..."

Nadelen: "The flight to Lviv was cancelled after 3 hours delay. All happens in life. But the only option Turkish airlines were offering is to fly the next day. I was flying to the funeral and this was not working for me (especially this was their second flight to Lviv cancelled - 2 in a row). The transfer desk didn't inform that there were two other flights going the same day of other airlines. When i approached to help me to go with a different airline the personal was very rude saying they will not help transferring the luggage and that they can't unload the luggage sooner than 3 hours after you go out of the security and passport control. When i asked to book to a different destination in Ukraine. It took 50 min at the desk to do it. Simply because 4 people at the desk were laughing and joking and nobody was concerned about the queue of over 40 people staying. After 30 min it turned out they've lost my boarding pass and it took 15 min to find it as one of the transfer guys managers simply took it to a different room... At the end when they found it it took only 5 min to do the work. I would appreciate more information from the desk about available flights and more support to manage the situation. I'm happy that people at the transfer desk are so joyful and happy it obviously helps to deal with the stressed passengers whose flight was cancel."
