Voordelen: "Crew was kind and checked in with me to see if I wanted to eat after I missed a meal. The stewardess didn't have to come back but she checked in and i appreciate it."
Nadelen: "The switch from one terminal to the next was horrible"
Nadelen: "During my transit of 11h00 in Beijing i was stuck in an area without anything. I asked the Hainan crew to get something to drink and their answer was wait 3 hours before departure and you ll go trough immigration...... Hainan never more !!!!"
Voordelen: "Nice crew"
Nadelen: "My passport number was incorrect leading to an inconvenience at check in"

Nadelen: "Boarding was a bit chaotic, we had to be bused from the terminal to the plane. But overall a good experience."
Voordelen: "to have transfer personalized service was an excellent service and great relief, because I didn't known the airport, had to pick luggages, then change terminal and check in again. the person walked along with me, all the way. she was kind, caring, and helpful."
Voordelen: "Product was good; single seats in the aisles, full recline, lots of storage."
Nadelen: "Terrible movie selection, food was mediocre with only one dumpling served but tons of noodles."
Nadelen: "The airline lost our luggage which in turn made us lose our connecting flight to Chicago. The staff did not help and the manager kept walking off to assist other people while in the middle of conversation! We could have made our flight of they were a bit more helpful and attentive. The staff was very unprofessional, extremely rude and ignored our concerns of not being able to sit with our 7year old daughter, at least one of us! They found us a flight to Seattle which then connected to Chicago but expected us to pay for the plane tickets since they denied responsibility for having lost our luggage. They said it was our fault we missed our flight. It was such a terrible experience for my family."
Voordelen: "Cabin temperature was reasonable; staff were nice and helpful; time spent boarding was good."
Nadelen: "Food was just OK; seats were not the most comfortable"
Nadelen: "The TV wasn't easy to use at all. The touchscreen didn't react well so people have to poke very hard multiple times. Many buttons on the remote didn't work either. And the contents of choice were either entertaining or up-to-date, which made the trip very boring."
Voordelen: "The crew was very attentive."
Nadelen: "Having to take a shuttle and then get on the plane outside is cold and a hassle."
Voordelen: "Excellent service, good movies"
Nadelen: "Seats a bit tight fitting. Food was average."
Nadelen: "I missed my flight because of wrong details the airline sent me by email. I arrived 3 hours before, but when I arrived, it was too late, and the flight already departured. The only next flight to TLV, Israel, was on the 2nd of Nov- 2 days later! I had to wait a whole day in the airport for another flight with another airline (ELAL) which I paid for it 2900 RMB! It's really unfair, and the women in the check-in desk wouldn't help me nor give me any info in order to book a new ticket :( It was a horrible experience, and I definitely wont fly with Hainan Airlines again."
Voordelen: "Flight was fine, very few passengers made it pretty low key."
Nadelen: "Food wasn't my favorite, but could always be worse. The security process at the Beijing Airport was unbelievably slow and chaotic - has nothing to do with the airline, but made catching my flight super stressful."
Voordelen: "The lounge in Beijing is spa like. Set up with lots of personal spaces and delicious food.Nespresso latte machine.On the plane, Wide, Fully flat seats. Quilted comforters instead of thin polyester sheets. They even offer pajamas and bed making! Choices for food were very broad to fit all palates. Great selection of international films from all over the world. Our plane had a dedicated chef (!) preparing food fresh both ways. At the end, she helped with cleanup. Bathrooms were cleaned frequently. Flight attendants were very attentive. Best sleep I have had on a plane"
Nadelen: "You are not allowed to use your smartphone on the plane, even in airplane mode. Apparently this is a Chinese airline rule. I had downloaded books from the library to listen and read, but could not. However did see some great movies"
Nadelen: "If there are empty first row seats, with extra leg room, I don't see why you couldn't let people use them just because they didn't pay the extra $100. It's absurd that once we are 40 thousand feet in the air you would enforce keeping those seats empty instead of increasing the happiness/comfort level of at least some people aboard. Also the food quality should improve."
Voordelen: "Crew members were nice Direct flight to Beijing from Seattle"
Nadelen: "Customer service didn't speak English Couldn't choose seats ahead of time The food options were not good Can't use your phone in flight Not many entertainment options The check in in Bangkok was a mess and 2/3rds of the workers were sitting around on their phones"
Voordelen: "om time"
Voordelen: "I picked up the wrong luggage and returned it to their office. The officer was very responsible and called me and kept my luggage in good shape. The ticket was cheaper, but service is better than US airlines."
Nadelen: "Hope to have better transfer connections from international flight to domestic US airlines."
Voordelen: "flight was great and the staff was friendly. my special meal arrived as requested."
Nadelen: "I flew from Shanghai to Beijing and had to take luggege out then go through everything back in to my next flight. for some reason it took over 2 hours of standing in quoes"
Voordelen: "The crew was much better and seemed to care a lot more than in the previous flight (see HU 496 Seattle to Beijing, above). The boarding seemed to take a lot longer, and the crew was helpful and kind during this process. The seat actually felt better than in the flight above, and I was able to rest and relax more during this 2 1/2 hour flight than in the whole 11 1/2 hour flight from above."
Nadelen: "The food and entertainment selections were not very extensive. I don't really need a lot during the last trip (of three) on my China to U.S. or U.S. to China trips, but it could be improved."
Nadelen: "The domestic flight from Guangzhou to Beijing was canceled so I missed my connecting flight to Beijing. The airline was very difficult to work with and eventually they got me a flight to Boston two days later."
Voordelen: "Some of the crew members were extremely kind."
Nadelen: "Weather delays. Normal though."
Voordelen: "No much to say...chaotic boarding, complaining crew"
Nadelen: "The seatbelt sign was on the entire flight and the crew was upset people needed the bathroom"
Nadelen: "My biggest complaint is that my bag was misplaced somehow between Seattle, Washington and Chengdu, China and it took 4 days to get it back. I arrived in Beijing for a layover, and was inconveniently supposed to pick up my baggage and check it again. However, my baggage wasn't there. I went to the baggage inquiry counter, and the guy behind the counter told me to check overside luggage for my lost bag. He then filled out a confusing piece of paper, and told me to call the number on the bottom of the sheet when I got to Chengdu. Once in Chengdu, I called the number and it didn't exist. Overall, because of the incident, I was given the run around. Every time I called the airline, they couldn't really answer any of my questions or help me out. Luckily, I had a few days to spare before I was leaving Chengdu and would need my baggage. I think Hainan should just have a better system for those types of things.... Not impressed"
Nadelen: "When my daughter arrived in China no one would help her to get her ticket or show her where to go it took her over an hour to find someone to walk with her to get her ticket at counter and take her to the gate. I ask them in Las Vegas she needs assistance when she gets off the plane in China they told us to just show stewards your ticket and itinerary but no one helped her I would never take this airlines or refer it worst ever"
Nadelen: "Seating was uncomfortable and juice too sweet. The crew feared me because I didn't speak English and when it came to custom forms they couldn't explain anything to me because English was limited."
Voordelen: "The food was a little less disgusting than some airlines (Delta)."
Nadelen: "The check-in area was not marked and confusing. The number of staff working the check-in and baggage check area was inadequate."
Nadelen: "If You say the suitcase will go through the connection, make sure it happens. It there are security issues or others, I want to know my suitcase didn't make the flight at the gate or when I arrive Israel. Not to wait one hour for it tom come out Poor boarding system Staff doesn't smile and kind of gives you orders. At least this is the way it feels."
Voordelen: "The plane was comfortable; the entertainment modern with a fair selection of newer movies; and the little comfort packets were nice."
Nadelen: "The plane was delayed (on both my Bangkok link and the one to the States. We had booked a layover tour and missed out. We could have still made the tour if we had known earlier that the second leg was late as well. The customs agent took my duty-free zippo which had NO GAS in it (and I was later told by a Chinese citizen was taken to be sold later by the agent). I missed my connection in the US. The flight attendant was rude to us, but extremely nice to the Chinese citizen sitting next to us (several times skipped us when delivering snacks - we were awake). At one point, I had to go back and get a snack from the back). There was no comfortable seats in the Beijing Airport area where we were cornered (and the food was overpriced). They ran out of drinks. More than disappointing"
Nadelen: "I pre-reserved seats via the HU website 2 days ahead of departure. When we checked in for the flight we did not receive seats together. We ended up having to ask other passengers to change seats,"
Voordelen: "Business class. New airplane. The flight arrived reasonably on time. Pleasant staff."
Nadelen: "Business class. Staff not experienced, not trained, Incapable of delivering the service on an orderly basis. Staff had to be constantly reminded of Order. I have written to the company. It is interesting that the company gets a B787 but buys seats that are two generations ago. Not as comfortable as the competition outside mainland China."
Voordelen: "Never heard od Hainan until I bought the ticket great experience for sure"
Nadelen: "Middle seat...bummer"
Voordelen: "Good entertainment selection. Breakfast was good with the egg frittata, potatoes and fresh fruit and yogurt."
Nadelen: "The dinner was greasy noodles with meat. The meat on the salad was fatty. I just finished feeling unsettled."
Voordelen: "Every aspect was top notch for an economy seat. The staff was attentive, the flight was super smooth, the entertainment decent and the seats comfortable. On time and hassle free! Would definitely fly with them again."
Voordelen: "this is the first time I take hanan airplane,it was very comfortable .the service is nice,the flight is clean,the food is good.thanks for all the flight workers.hope can take hanan flight next time."
Voordelen: "The movie and game selection was good and made the flight bearable."
Nadelen: "Check in for the flight was very slow. We arrived 3 hours before our international flight and it took 2 hours to check in, leaving only half an hour to get through security and to our gate before boarding. There were 3 meals offered on the flight, all of which we nearly inedible."
Voordelen: "The flight attendants were helpful and well trained. The Business Class seats were comfortable and the lie-flat configuration worked well. Providing Bose noise-cancelling headphones for the flight was a nice touch."
Nadelen: "The temperature of the Business Class cabin was too hot. Also the Airbus 330 did not have individual ventilation registers above the seats, so no additional airflow was available to make adjustments. The US titled movies were heavily censored rendering comedies unfunny and the dramas un-dramatic. The Hainan counter staff routinely refused to enter an Alaska Airlines mileage plan number (a partner airline) into their system unless forced."
Voordelen: "The Plane itself was comfortable, the entertainment system was modern & clear with lots of good choice."
Nadelen: "Flight was delayed 6 hours leaving Beijing. No explanation or ETD was given during the 6 hour wait"
Nadelen: "My luggage never made it to Tokyo. I have tried calling lost and found multiple times but nobody ever picks up. I have emailed them multiple times with no response. Everything I brought for my 2 month trip in Japan was in there. This has brought nothing but stress. I just want some sort of answer"
Voordelen: "It had nice leg room and plenty of space for luggage and carryon items. The bathrooms are nice and plenty of little snacks if you want. they are on time."
Nadelen: "The food was just ok. Cold food was way too cold and hot food wasn't very hot. Butter was solid so you can't really spread it on your bread. The drinks are in tiny cups and they don't have cans, so you have two sips and have to hunt for more. The movie selections are limited and it is the same coming and going. Also it was really dumb to not allow us to have water boarding the plane as we just filled up our water bottle right by the boarding gate and you have to go through another bag search and no water? Like I said, with the little cups they give you, I really needed my water bottle. Also nobody was watching the shuttle bus, they keep sending people to board like sardines."
Voordelen: "Lots of movies, Tv, and music to keep entertained. Many good Food options and drink choices were great!"
Nadelen: "Seats a little small and by the time the food came to us they only had one option left so that was a bummer."
Nadelen: "One of our bags didn't arrive to chengdu, we had to spend our own time and money in order to pick it up the day after our flight. I think the appropriate way was to send it to the place where we are staying or at least compensate us for the taxie fee to the airport and back."
Voordelen: "Getting to my destination safely"
Nadelen: "The boarding time was extremely off and there was no information to be given by the staff... the trip from the terminal to the plane took about 40 times as long as it should have, and the entire plane was crammed into one single, stinky, non-airconditioned bus. The boarding process was an absolute madhouse with no order whatsoever. The in-flight entertainment was non existent. I was happy to get to BKK and will not be flying via Beijing hopefully ever again."
Voordelen: "Service was amazing. Also we got lucky to having the seats with lots of leg rooms."
Nadelen: "Be aware that the boarding might not the via bridge, nothing bad, just be ready that it's a little different in China sometimes. Try not to sit next to restrooms, since lots of people will walk by, also door shutting and flushing could be loud."
Voordelen: "You have personally screens with a pretty good selection of entertainment options which was a plus considering the length of our flight. They serve you alcohol, including hard liquor, which was another great perk especially if you want to pound a few and sleep for your trip. Not sure if this is offered for every flight, we were on a 12 hour international flight."
Nadelen: "Crew members did not have good attitudes, and it was clearly written on their faces. Crew needs to be better trained in service, not once did I see them smile when a passenger requested something. Seats were uncomfortable - for any flight over 5 hours, you will definitely feel aches for a few days. Boarding was slow and our flight to our destination was delayed 4 hours. Really need to improve their boarding process."
